Maximum experience, minimal design.

The interior of Hotel Centraal began with a practical challenge: how could a twenty-room budget hotel feel contemporary, comfortable, and carefully designed without relying on unnecessary elements? Rather than viewing the limited budget as a restriction, we used it as the foundation of the concept — every component had to serve a clear purpose, contribute to the guest experience, and remain efficient to build and maintain.

A desk that does more.

As a business-oriented hotel, the rooms needed to support more than sleeping. The traditional hotel desk was reconsidered as a multifunctional element that could operate as a workspace, a console, and part of the room’s living area. Open wardrobes replaced conventional enclosed cupboards, reducing materials and maintenance while making the rooms feel lighter and more spacious.

Key ideas.

One wall, one gesture.

A continuous feature wall behind the bed brings these elements together, creating a visual landscape within the room that integrates headboard, lighting, technology, and finishes into one recognizable identity. This allowed the interior to achieve the polished appearance of a contemporary hotel brand while remaining approachable, efficient, and commercially realistic.
