Hotel TUI Blue Santa Martha.
A hotel shaped by Banda Abou.
The design of TUI BLUE Curaçao began with a fundamental question: what should a hotel in Curaçao truly feel like? Rather than placing an international hotel model onto the island, we wanted to create an experience that could only belong to this location — bringing together the identity of Curaçao, the natural character of Banda Abou, and the established values of the TUI BLUE brand.
A village, not a complex.
The answer began with the master plan. Instead of concentrating the entire hotel within one large and imposing building, the program was divided across a collection of smaller structures positioned throughout the landscape, letting the hotel feel more like a village or retreat than a conventional resort. Guests move between the buildings through a green valley inspired by the rural landscapes of western Curaçao.
Key ideas.
A collection, not one building
The program is spread across smaller structures set into the landscape, reducing scale and creating a village-like retreat.
Hofi-like gathering spaces
Intimate courtyards with large trees and generous shade recall the informal gardens central to Curaçaoan life.
Rooms tuned to their view
Pool-facing rooms feel social and energetic; garden-facing rooms are quieter and more restorative — each building shaped by its position.
Many places, one resort.
Between the buildings, intimate hofi-like spaces were created with large trees and generous shade — places to pause, sit, meet, and relax. The landscape is not decoration around the architecture; it is the element that connects the entire resort, reflecting the diversity of its guests while remaining rooted in the character of Banda Abou: open, green, relaxed, and closely connected to the land.
